Planning to go camping soon? Everything seems to be set, but there's one detail that hasn't been settled: the games to play during your stay. Here are the five must-have camping games for an unforgettable holiday.
For your information, France holds the European record in this sector, with over 8,000 campsites in the country. And it ranks second in the world after the United States. So there are a lot of campers here.
1. Line dancing
Dancing can also be a fun camping game. Swaying, jumping and moving your body are a good way to loosen up and de-stress. What's more, line dancing doubles up as a sport.
All you have to do is go online and find choreographies to imitate. Choose the ones that set the mood and whose steps are not too complicated to perform. You can also invent your own dance steps, which will make the game even more fun. The only condition is that you respect the 32-beat rule.
You can do this camping game on your own, but inviting other campers will be more interesting for a convivial moment. Line dancing is best done in the morning or afternoon.
2. The liar's game
The Liar's Game is a game for having a good time with your friends or family at the campsite. Everyone is invited to play. One of the participants starts the liar's game by telling three different stories, one of which is a complete lie. It's then up to the others to guess which of the stories is false.
The most fun in this game of lies is when you can spot the deception. The moment the player tells, you laugh. If you know the person well, you'll have no trouble spotting their lies.
Throughout the game, you can ask questions. Whoever manages to recognise the invented story takes over, continuing the liar's game.
3. The song guessing game
This idea for a camping activity is also a big hit. It's not about knowing the words to a song, it's about guessing.
The player presents a song and the others have to guess it. To do this, he can sing a small part of it as a clue. But they can also use different methods. For example, the player may say a few words of the song or translate it into another language. They can reproduce the choreography or say the names of the extras in the video. The most important thing is to give clues so that the others can discover the song.
The player who manages to guess the song presented wins a point. The same goes for the player who manages to get someone to guess his or her song.
Song guessing is an increasingly popular camping game. So don't forget it for your next camping trip.
4. Sleeping bag race
This race is also a classic camping game. It never goes out of fashion. Everyone is tempted to try it out during their camping trip, probably because it's so much fun.
There's nothing complex about it, just get inside a sleeping bag and race. You can jump or crawl. Whoever crosses the finish line first wins the race.
5. The murder mystery game
This original game also appeals to camping enthusiasts, because the game's principles are so easy to understand. Murder mystery game, translated as "murder evening" or "investigation evening", is classified as a life-size game.
First you download a scenario. Then, each player takes on the role of a character in the story, with the aim of solving a murder. Nobody knows who the murderer is except the player, and that's what makes the game so exciting.
The detective will lead the investigation. He or she will enlist the help of the other characters to quickly find the real criminal. Everyone tries to take their role seriously and make the Murder mystery game as realistic as possible.
In principle, the game ends when the crime is solved, i.e. when the murderer is unmasked. As soon as you start this game, you'll become attached to it. So one game won't be enough. As it's an evening investigation, the best time to play is at the end of the day.
6. The obstacle course
This game can also liven up a campsite, especially when there are several participants. All you need to do is prepare some obstacles in advance, which you'll have to negotiate as quickly as possible.
In principle, the facilities at the campsite are sufficient. These include picnic tables, tents and play areas. All you have to do is map out the route. Each player's route is timed by the organisers.
At the end of the game, all the participants' achievements are compared. The player with the best stopwatch is crowned the winner.
7. Le Gabaky
The Gabaky is a great idea for a camping activity. The play equipment doesn't weigh much. They won't clutter up your belongings, because the Gabaky is made up entirely of soft balls and an easy-to-move game board. It can be played on any terrain, individually or in groups.
To start the game, set up the target 4 metres from the throw line. The first player throws to the target. The opposing player then has to overtake him. If he fails to do so, he must continue the game until he runs out of balls. The opponent then finishes the round.
At the end of each round, the points are counted. The best-placed balls score one point. The team or player who wins the round goes on to the next round. The game is over when one of the players reaches 13 points.
Gabaky is always played when camping, as it brings campers of all ages together around the playing field. Those who are not playing can encourage one of the players or teams.
